You will contacted by a CELOTTI Recruitment Team Member regarding the specific position you have applied for. What is the interview process at CELOTTI?
Our selection process can vary between roles and depending on client requirements, but as a general rule, shortlisted candidates will participate in a telephone interview, followed by a face-to-face interview with CELOTTI and/or a client representative, pre-employment psychometric assessment and medical screening may take place, followed by reference checking and finally, an offer.
Do CELOTTI WORKFORCE do background checks and medical screening?
Yes, we do. The degree to which these are conducted can depend on the position and/or our client’s requirements. At a minimum, we always conduct at least two employment reference checks with recent employers and preferably direct supervisors at those places of employment. Pre-employment screening for some roles can be very vigorous, involving complete medical assessment including drug and alcohol screening as well as personal and professional background checking and national and international police checks. Psychometric assessment may also be required for some positions.
My recruiter has told me my interview will include some behaviour based questions. What are these and how do I prepare?
Behavioural job interview questions are based on the premise that past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour. An example is ‘Give me an example of a stressful situation you experienced at work and tell me how you dealt with it’. If we can understand how you have dealt with a stressful situation in the past, it gives us a good idea of how you will handle one in future. Behavioural questions are best answered using specific examples from your past work life, and using the STAR technique as follows:
‘S’/’T’ – Explain the Situation or Task you were faced with;
‘A’ – What Actions did you take in response to the situation or task.
‘R’ – Outline the Result or outcome.
The best way to prepare for a behavioural interview is to review the job ad or position description for the job you are interviewing for, and try to determine the key capabilities for the job. What is the stand out capability requirement? Some examples are Teamwork, Time Management, Leadership, Prioritising, Working under pressure, Conflict, Attention to Detail. Try to think of specific examples from your working life where you have been able to demonstrate these capabilities. Jot down the STAR for each example, and bring them along to your interview to prompt you.
I have been asked to do Psychometric testing. What is this?
Psychometric tests are often used in the recruitment process and allow us to assess your skills, knowledge, intelligence, personality traits, attitudes and ultimately your potential job performance through a set of written or online tests. Answers are usually given in text or multiple choice format. Occasionally answers are provided verbally.
