Job Description

POSITION:  Project Engineer
BUSINESS LINE: Cranes and Lifting
REPORTS TO:  Cranes and Lifting Manager
APPROVED BY:  Operations Manager
JOB PURPOSE:
The Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering, management and design support to cranes and lifting projects to ensure all projects are delivered on time, on budget, to a high technical standard and meet all contractual and regulatory requirements. Such support includes, but is not limited to; scoping up projects, provision of proposals for work scope execution, liaising with client and supplier representatives, preparation of work packs and procedures, developing rigging plans and mechanical handling procedures, procurement of parts and/or equipment, quality assessment of work performed and preparation of post job reports.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Engineers

  • Quotes, Bids and Tenders
    • Liaise with client representative to clarify and confirm project deliverables
    • Attend site to scope up projects
    • Liaise with suppliers to obtain pricing for parts / equipment that meet/exceed the project specifications 
    • Prepare quotations for the execution of projects and issue to client representative
  • Operational
    • Focal point responsible for overall management of project execution
    • Managing the safe execution of the project for all personnel involved
    • Time schedule management of project execution
    • Resource management
    • Procurement planning
    • Third party management
    • Documentation preparation and project progress reporting
    • Compliance and change management (variations, claim, management of change process, etc.)
    • Project record maintenance
 
  • Technical
    • Provide onsite leadership and technical support via understanding of crane maintenance, lifting and testing projects
    • Development of technical procedures, work packs, manuals, specifications, reports, lifting plans, mechanical and hydraulic drawings, and general engineering documents with assistance from design engineers / drafts persons / technical advisers as required
    • Ensure compliance with regulations, codes, specifications and standards
    • Provide innovative and safe solutions that meet / exceed client requirements
 
  • Commercial
    • Project cost control
    • Cost monitoring and reporting
    • Address commercial implications of operational change management
    • Ensure compliance with contractual terms
    • Ensure that the monthly billing process is seamless through the correct paperwork being approved and presented on-time
    • Maximise growth in revenue and profit via increased work scopes and services
  • Stakeholder Relations
    • Liaise with client representatives to meet their operational and maintenance requirements
    • Manage and work with internal stakeholders
    • Liaise with supplier representatives to source the correct parts and equipment to successfully execute projects
 
  • Quality Assurance Control
    • Maintain compliance to internal ISO 9001/29001 requirements
    • Maintain compliance to client quality assurance requirements
    • Perform quality checks on project work, including coordination with third party inspection if required

    • Safety Awareness
    • Comply with all company and client safety, quality and environmental systems
    • Promote a positive HSE culture in the workplace
    • Identify and report problems in processes, systems or procedures
    • Initiate or recommend solutions to problems identified
    • Ensure prompt reporting of all incidents

LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
Operational
The incumbent has the authority to take any reasonable steps to ensure that all processes and initiatives are carried out effectively, consistent with the responsibilities of the position and subject to any limitations set by the Cranes and Lifting Manager and/or company policies, procedures and guidelines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is mainly based at Head Office, Bibra Lake Perth, but may require local, intrastate, interstate, international and offshore travel to a Client’s office, production facility or industrial/construction job site.
Conditions may vary at each location, but as listed below are generally representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position:
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 kilograms
  • When required to perform outside Pressure Dynamics premises, appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided.
  • Appropriate PPE will be provided for the employee
  • Overtime may be necessary as work load’s dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or public holidays
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Project Management Degree preferred but not essential
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, particularly in crane maintenance
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project delivery and project control principles / practices
  • Experience and knowledge of financial aspects of project management
  • Experience and knowledge of ERP systems
  • High level of computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
  • Drafting experience in AutoCad and Solid works would be advantageous
