Job Description

CELOTTI Workforce is currently seeking a Soccer Coach and Mentor for a community out in Borroloola, NT. 6 month contract, accommodation supplied 
  
About the role:
You will deliver best practice coaching and player development, consistent with JMF policies and curriculum. You will facilitate the delivery of a supported, grassroots football environment and help create the best platform for game mastery, together with enhanced well being, amongst the youth who train with us. Our remit encompasses grassroots to elite.

This is a hands-on role, where you will foster enthusiasm and engagement, and model behaviours around respect, attendance, punctuality and personal organisation. Well being and strong relationships are at the centre of our delivery to optimise protective factors in the lives of children and best support their social, emotional and cognitive development.

Key Duties:

Coaching & JMF Program delivery

● Coordinate Coaching Delivery in Schools and other community and sports organisations.
● Adapt curriculum to suit players needs to ensure best practice learning environment.
● Mentor JMF players in approaches designed to improve participant decision-making, persistence, and resilience.
● Deliver and promote a clear player development pathway, utilising player reports.
● Be a role model for staff and players in relation to behaviour, attendance, punctuality, personal organisation and management.

Well being and Nutrition

● Deliver on Moriarty Foundation Well being Program in relation to 5 key areas: healthy nutrition, fitness, fun & learning, protective relationships, mental resilience.
● Notify and respond on matters of staff and participants welfare and code of behaviour
● Coordinate and deliver the nutrition component of the program, in collaboration with the rest of the team.
● Responsible to train the team to deliver health & well being key messages to the participants.
● Promote mindfulness of players feelings and methods of how to manage this through breathing techniques.

Coach Development

● Identify training and development needs for all JMF coaching staff. This will be achieved via coaching assessments, appraisal systems and day-to-day observation and with Head Office support.
● Design individual training plans and monitor their progress, in conjunction with Head Office.
● Ensure input of local staff into program and delivery decisions, to develop ownership and accountability.
● Act as the significant contact for all matters regarding John Moriarty Football staff welfare and issues.

Relationship Management & Operations

● Ensure involvement and input into program development and delivery with parents, elders and community stakeholders.
● Promote the Program’s staff and participants’ best interests.
● Liaise with local stakeholders to identify mutually beneficial ways to work together.
● Monitor and report on budget spending according to provided guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Criteria:

● A passion for teaching/developing youth
● Tertiary qualification
● Minimum AFC/FFA ‘C’ License or equivalent & 3+ years coaching experience
● Current Australian driver’s license with the ability to drive a manual vehicle
● Eligibility to receive a Northern Territory Ochre Card (Working with Children check).
● Interest to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and commitment to helping create positive change amongst children in Indigenous communities
● Strong written & verbal communication skills.

Desired Criteria:

● Physical Education or related Teaching/Vocational degree
● Australian permanent resident
● First Aid Qualified.
